Educational Travel Alliance, Inc. is licensed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in the US Treasury Department as a Travel Service Provider (TSP) to make travel arrangements in Cuba for licensed organizations and individuals.
Our license was issued in 2000. Since that time we have developed programs with a broad range of organizations including Mass Humanities, Oxfam, the Nieman Foundation of Harvard University, Joyce Theater Foundation, and Eastern Massachusetts Senior Softball Association. We hosted Danza Contemporanea de Cuba for their standing ovation performances in Boston in 2011, and recently arranged for the Voices from the Heart Chorus to perform at the Corhabana Choral Festival in Havana.
Following President Obama’s initiative to offer new openings to the Cuban People, governmental regulations now allow for a broader range of licensing opportunities for travel to Cuba. These include purposeful People-to-People Exchange programs organized by foundations and other not-for-profit organizations. Accredited colleges and universities are now also permitted to offer their students programs of any duration. Churches, Synagogues, and Campus Ministries may now also travel to Cuba under General Licenses. ETA also serves as the official US representative of the Cuba National Softball Association, and regularly organizes softball tournaments in Cuba.
Complete information about the regulations which govern travel to Cuba is given on the OFAC Website.
